Sparks: Lyrics and the Story Behind the Song

I remember sitting on the floor in my living room writing this song. My kids were playing around me. My husband was renovating the bathroom in the old house we were living in. I was bouncing my ideas off of everyone. It’s one of the first songs I wrote on my journey to become a Folk songwriter. A little song about love coming out of nowhere when you least expect it.

Song Lyrics

There’s something like thunder rolling over these hills.
It’s feeding the hunger—chasing the chills.
It’s driving out—any last bit of doubt.
It’s charging the air—and changing despair.

Chorus
Now I can see you standing there.
My heart’s in need of some repair.
But, with a little bit of tender care,
We could spark this love affair.

There’s a strong wind blowing down this way.
It’s clearing the clouds and freeing the day.
Ignites the ember—fans the flame,
I’m warmed by the glow. Do you feel the same?

Chorus
Now I can see you standing there.
My heart’s in need of some repair.
But, with a little bit of tender care,
We could spark this love affair.

Chorus
Now I can see you standing there.
My heart’s in need of some repair.
But, with a little bit of tender care,
We could spark this love affair.
